Dr. Michael Bratland has deep multigenerational roots in the community, having grown up in Eugene and graduated from Churchill High School.
He earned his undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Oregon and married his college sweetheart, Jacquelyn.
Dr. Bratland decided to go back to school to become a dentist, graduating from Tufts Dental College. He went on to open his own dental practice, Crisdental, which was named after his older brother Chris, who passed away when Michael was a senior in high school. Jacquelyn has enjoyed a rewarding career as a kindergarten teacher at a local school and is a former President of Junior League of Eugene.
The Bratlands have five children ages of 15-24 and are also foster parents. Their oldest daughter is an airline pilot and their oldest son is graduating this year from the University of Wyoming with a degree in chemistry and plans to join the military as an officer. Another son is about to graduate from U of O and follow in his father’s footsteps by attending dental school. Their other two sons are currently attending Sheldon High.
Both Michael and Jacquelyn have served the community in various capacities; supporting Sheldon High School athletics, past sponsorship of MDA, supporting Hosea Youth and serving on the Junior League of Eugene. In addition, they are very active in their church community, serving in various leadership callings.
Dr. Bratland has decided to step up and give back to his longtime community by running for Eugene School District 4J Board Position 1 in the May 2023 election.
